40 VISAGES: TERROU-BI DAKAR'S PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION AT BIENNALE OFF 2026
Some places are defined not simply by the passing years, but by the people who bring them to life. Faces, gazes and familiar presences that, over time, weave a collective memory.
It is to these women and men that Terrou-Bi pays tribute with “40 Visages”, a photographic exhibition by Jacques Manga, also known as KAJ Graphy, presented as part of the Dakar Biennale OFF 2026. From November 19 to December 19, 2026, La Terrasse will host forty black-and-white portraits, capturing the strength and simplicity of each individual's expression.
Forty Faces, One Collective Story
Since 1986, Terrou-Bi's history has been shaped by encounters, everyday gestures and bonds forged across generations. Through this exhibition, the Maison chooses to portray, through the art of photography, the people who carry its history and keep it alive.
Those affectionately known here as “partners” are revealed in a different light, beyond their roles and everyday routines. Each portrait becomes an encounter, each expression reveals a personality. Brought together in a series of black-and-white photographs, these forty faces reflect a shared human journey, shaped by loyalty, meaningful encounters and stories woven together over time.

Jacques Manga: A Vision Rooted in Heritage and Contemporary Art
A Senegalese photographer and artistic director with roots in Casamance, Jacques Manga, known as KAJ Graphy, has developed an artistic approach deeply centred on the human experience.
Drawing on his cultural heritage, his work explores memory, the passing down of traditions and a sense of belonging. Through portraiture, he examines the connections between individuals, their personal histories and the places to which they belong.
For “40 Visages”, black and white, the interplay of light and shadow, and the intensity of each gaze reveal the individuality of every subject. An intimate and poetic approach, where each face tells far more than what meets the eye.
An Exhibition to Discover at La Terrasse
Presented at the heart of Terrou-Bi, within La Terrasse restaurant, “40 Visages” invites visitors to discover another side of the Maison through the women and men who bring it to life.
Part of the Dakar Biennale OFF programme, the exhibition takes on special significance as Terrou-Bi celebrates its 40th anniversary. More than a tribute to the past, it celebrates the bonds that endure, the stories passed down through generations and those that continue to unfold.
